CBOX converts shipping containers into JOP containers: designated youth meeting places that help councils create safer, more organised public spaces.
CBOX has supplied JOP containers to the Municipality of Amsterdam and other municipalities in the Netherlands.
A shipping container provides a strong, weather-resistant and vandal-resistant base for a youth meeting place. A large side opening creates an accessible, sheltered space, while fixed benches and a table give young people a practical place to meet.
Every neighbourhood and public space is different, so a JOP container does not have to follow one standard configuration. The container can be modified to suit the council's requirements and the intended location.
The size and position of the opening, seating, tables, colour and other features can all be adapted to create a solution that suits its surroundings and intended use. It is another example of how the robust structure of a standard shipping container can be given an entirely different purpose: a durable, practical and recognisable meeting place for young people in public space.
